A STUDY ON THE MEANING OF THE WORD "GUO" IN THE CORPUS OF CHINESE PROFICIENCY TEST (HSK) LEVELS 1-6

Abstract

"Guo" as a common polysemous word, is the most frequently used word for Chinese learners. This paper sorts out 17 meanings of the word "Guo" from five Chinese dictionaries. By searching the word "Guo" in the corpus of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) levels 1-6, we organized 13 meanings and 5 word classes (verbs, adjectives, adverbs, auxiliary words, quantifiers) of "Guo". According to research results above, we compared and analyzed "Guo" further, and got some conclusions at the end of the research.
