Situation Analysis of Violence Management of Medical Personnel in Emergency Department, Sawanpracharak Hospital, Nakhon Sawan Province

This descriptive study aimed to analyze the situation of violence management among medical personnel in the Emergency Department of Sawanpracharak Hospital, Nakhon Sawan Province. The study applied Donabedian’s conceptual framework, which includes three dimensions: structure, process, and outcome. It also incorporated institutional guidelines for preventing and managing hospital violence, as outlined by the Ministry of Public Health. The sample comprised 68 medical personnel, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection tools included a semi-structured interview and an incident recording form. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data underwent content analysis.
The findings showed that, structurally, the hospital lacked a clear policy on violence management. Most staff were unaware of standard protocols and had limited specialized training, despite some protective environmental measures. In terms of process, the department had no formal procedures in place, prompting staff to rely on individual judgment and report incidents informally. Regarding outcomes, personnel expressed negative attitudes toward formal reporting due to concerns over possible repercussions and skepticism about whether such reports would lead to meaningful organizational change.
