Peoples’ Participation in Crime Prevention: A Case Study of Bangphlat Metropolitan Police Station, Bangphlat Sub-district, Bangkok

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the participation of people in crime prevention: a case study of Bangphlat Metropolitan Police Station, Bangphlat sub-district, Bangkok, and 2. To compare public participation in crime prevention: a case study of Bangphlat Metropolitan Police Station, Bangphlat sub-district, Bangkok, classified by personal factors such as gender, ages, education levels, occupations and monthly incomes. Sample groups are include the number of population of 393 who living in Bangphlat Metropolitan Police Station, Bang Phlat sub-district, Bangkok, from a total of 23,311 people. The instruments were used in this research was a questionnaire method consisting of 3 aspects: cooperation crime prevention and in coordination with police officers data analysis by finding frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation T-test independent comparison, one-way ANOVA, and data analysis using social science software packages

The research study indicated that; 1. Mainly for the study of public participation in crime prevention: a case study of Bangphlat Metropolitan Police Station, Bangphlat sub-district, Bangkok was at a medium level (= 3.40, S.D. = 0.30) and when considers each aspect of the finding. The highest average value was crime prevention (= 3.49, S.D. = 0.58). The followed aspect is cooperation. It is at a medium level (= 3.38, S.D. = 0.39). The following aspect by coordination with police officers is moderate level (= 3.32, S.D. = 0.36).

2. The comparison of individual factors and public participation in crime prevention: a case study of Bangphlat Metropolitan Police Station, Bangphlat sub-district, Bangkok, is classified by genders, ages, educational levels and occupations. The overall finding is not different. An aspect that is classified by monthly income found significantly that the difference of overall picture at the level of .
