Developing an Instructional Model for Improving Comprehensive Abilities in Thai of 6th Grade Students

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to study needs for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students, to design and develop an instructional model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students based on the 80/80 standardized criteria efficiency, and to assess the model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students. The sample subjects of the study were fourteen 6^th grade students in the second semester of 2019. They were selected by cluster random sampling. The instrument was an instructional model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language, fifteen lesson plans, a Thai comprehensive test with .33-.75 difficulty indices, .30-.77 discrimination indices and a .89 reliability index and a 5-point rating scale questionnaire. The statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation and         t-test. Results of the research were as follows: 1. The study showed that the instructional model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students consisted of six major components: 1) basic concepts and theories, 2) learning objectives, 3) four learning step: create experiences, read, exchange learning and evaiuation, 4) social system, 5)responsiveness or reflection and 6) a support system.
2. The appropriateness of the model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students was at the highest level ( = 4.52). 3. The research results after implementing the model with thirty nine 6^th grade students were as follows: 3.1 The efficiency of the instructional model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students was 83.43 /81.67. 3.2 The average pretest score of the students for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students was 12.64 points, and the average posttest score of the students for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students was 24.50 points. The posttest score of the students for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language of 6^th grade students was significantly higher than that of the pretest score at the .05 level 3.3 The overall satisfaction of the students with the instructional model for improving comprehensive abilities in Thai language was at the highest level ( = 4.60)
