A Measurement Model Development of English Learning Motivation Using Song-Based Instruction for Grade Iii Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1. to study the effectiveness of English media; 2. to compare the learning outcomes on the model development of measuring the motivation in learning English by using music for teaching before and after classes; 3. to compare the learning achievement to the development of an English-learning motivation measurement model using pre- and post-study background music. The sample group used in this research consisted of 40 primary school students from Wat Ban Sang School, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province who answered the questionnaire voluntarily. The duration of the study was 6 weeks. The research instruments were 1) songs used for teaching vocabulary and question sentences; 2) online test before class; 3) test during class; 4) online test after class; 5) assessment satisfaction. The data were statistically analyzed by mean scores, percentage standard deviation and t-test for dependent samples. The statistics program was run by the computer program. The results of the research were found that 1. the efficiency of musical innovation got an average 75.4/80.6 which was higher than the definition of 70/70 and the students who studied with musical innovation had more marks of 0.85 or percentage score of 58.49. 2. the comparative results of the students taught by music innovative media after class higher than before class were significant difference at the 0.05 level. 3. the learning achievement of students taught by music innovative media after class higher than before class were significant difference at the 0.05 level. The average score of animal story were higher than the definition with significant difference at the 0.05 level and the learning achievement of the students learning with the music innovative media was higher than normal teaching with significant difference at the 0.05 level. The achievement and retention of learning of animal story by the music innovative media after 2 weeks was high with teaching with significant difference at the 0.05 level.
