Abstract

This research aimed to 1. investigate the current state and desirable state of the student support system of secondary schools in Sa Kaeo Province and 2. explore the practical approach of the student support system of secondary schools in Sa Kaeo Province. The research sample consisted of 269 teachers in secondary schools. The key informants included six secondary school administrators in Sa Kaeo Province. The instruments were questionnaires and interview forms. To analyze the data, the researcher conducted the statistics consisting of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Priority Needs Index (PNIModified), and content analysis for the qualitative study. The result revealed that: 1) in an overview, the current state of the student support system in secondary schools showed a moderate level. (=3.38, S.D.=0.84) The overall desirable state was at a high level. (=4.20, S.D.=1.01) 2) The practical approach of the student support system for school administrators consisted of five areas. (1) In terms of knowing each individual student, it was found that information on various aspects of learners was systematically gathered. (2) In terms of student assorting, it was discovered that the data collected from the learners was analyzed individually. (3) The student's promotion and development were found that projects and activities to promote and develop learners were consistent with learners' needs. (4) The prevention and problem solving appeared to be close assistance to students in at-risk groups and problem groups by using the Professional Learning Communicaty (PLC) process to solve the problems. (5) For the transmission aspect, the referred students received the correct and prompt assistance. The referrals were continuously followed up with the counselors and the guidance teachers.
