A Guideline Practicum Pre-Treatment Respiratory Allergy for Thai Traditional Medicine Students

This article is derived from learning process of the Thai traditional medicine professional experience course of fourth year students, aims to study a Guideline practicum pre-treatment respiratory allergy for Thai traditional medicine students. This is a qualitative research using focus group through a purposive sampling method from 30 professional Thai traditional medicine professors who are key informant to extract the experience of caring for patients with respiratory allergies. The data analyses to determine the procedures and content scope of practice for Thai traditional medicine students. The results showed that the practice consisted of 3 steps: Step 1: Cause of disease. It is a skill training to understand basic definitions and essential indications of respiratory allergies. Step 2: Examination and diagnosis. Thai traditional medicine students ask for symptoms of illness and physical examination to analyze and confirm the information leading to diagnosis. There is an explanation of the etymology of Thai traditional medicine. The etymology of Thai traditional medicine, the principle of treatment, an opportunity for treatment and recommendations for practice. Step 3: Treatment process. The treatment process trains clinical skills in prescribing treatment methods, including selecting drug regimens, medicinal raw materials, pharmaceutical forms, dosage, direction and cautions. In addition, There is also training in patient appointments for follow-up and evaluations for termination of treatment.
