Development of English Learning Innovation Model for Enhancing Listening Skills of Grade VI Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to enhance the listening ability and desirable  characteristics, namely cooperative learning and applying the learned skill of Prathomsuksa  Six students by using English tales. The subjects were 15 Prathomsuksa six students at  Watbansang School, Ayutthaya in the first semester of academic year 2021. They were  selected by simple random sampling. The experiment was carried out in a five-week time:  nine class periods of sixty minutes each. For the first phase, they were taught in the  classroom for 3 periods. In the second phase they practiced in real situations to dramatization and telling stories for 6 periods. The instruments used in this study were  seven lesson plans on English tales, a pre-post test of listening test, the teacher’s  observation form and the students’ self-assessment form. The data were statistically  analyzed by mean scores, percentage standard deviation and t-test for dependent samples.  The results founding 1.The findings of this study indicated that listening ability of the subjects was  enhanced higher than before the experiment at the .01 level of significance. This result is supported by the analysis of the data from the teacher’s observation form and the students’ self-assessment form.  2. The subjects have developed cooperative learning skill. They have also shown the ability in applying the learned skill as a tool for knowledge enhancement and entertainment.
