Strengthening Good Governance of Thai Sangha Universities

There are 2 monastic universities in Thailand that are recognized and carry out various activities to drive the roles according to the mission, namely Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and Mahamakut Buddhist University. They are established by the Thai King to be the study center of monks, novices and lay people and expected to help raise the level of Buddhist education and higher profession for people to follow the right way of life under the mission of producing quality graduates, education, research and development. Promote Buddhism and provide academic services to society including monks, novices and lay people and maintenance of Buddhism and Thai culture. That is, the integration of Buddhist principles with modern science in order to help develop world citizenship completely under the context of Buddhist civilization to flourish both in the abstract and concrete ways. Good governance for the administration of Sangha Universities must be in line with the state's policy as an autonomous university, namely the rule of law. Sangha Universities must have discipline in their organization for compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and moral principles. The promotion of virtue and goodness in all aspects, especially the honesty of society and transparency. All management must be clear, verifiable, and information can be disclosed with good faith. Principles of participation, listen to opinions of personnel and society for the advancement of the university. Responsibility, be aware of responsibility for the main mission. There is respect for social differences. Lastly, values, the use of the state budget must be economical, reduce the use of various resources and help preserve the natural resources and the environment of the world.
