The Development of Analytical Reading Ability by Backward Design with GPAS 5 Steps for Grade 9 Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) develop the lesson plan by Backward design with GPAS 5 Steps, 2) compare the analytical reading ability of students before and after learning, 3) study’ satisfaction on the Backward design with GPAS 5 Steps. The samples were 29 students from grade 9 class 1 students at Boryangwittaya School in Sawang Arom district, Uthai Thani province, on 2nd semester, academic year 2022.

Research instruments consist of lesson plan, analytical reading ability test, satisfaction questionnaire of students. The Statistics for data analysis were the mean, standard deviation and T-test Dependent.

The results were as follow

  1. The lesson plan of analytical reading ability by Backward design with GPAS 5 Steps development was the highest level (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\large&space;\bar{x} = 4.47, S.D. = 0.43)
  2. The analytical reading ability after learning by Backward design with GPAS 5 Steps after studying was higher than before learning with statistical significance at the level of 0.05
  3. The satisfaction of students on learning management by Backward design with GPAS 5 Steps was the highest level (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\large&space;\bar{x} = 4.64, S.D. = 0.49).
