The study of Inquiry-Based Learning (5E) with multimedia in science subject on the topic of learning about soil for grade 2 students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to compare the pre-learning and post-learning achievements on the topic of learning about soil of grade 2 students who studied by Inquiry-Based Learning (5E) learning method with multimedia in science subject, (2) to investigate student satisfaction of Inquiry-Based Learning with multimedias in science subject on the topic of learning about soil. The sample consisted for this study were 26 second graders in room 4 in Bangkok of second semester, academic year 2021. The sample group was determined by cluster sampling. The research instruments of this study were (1) teaching plan of Inquiry-Based Learning in science subject on the topic of learning about soil for grade 2 students, (2) multimedias in science subject on the topic of learning about soil for grade 2 students, (3) study achievement measurement in science subject on the topic learning about soil for grade 2 students and (4) student satisfaction survey of Inquiry-Based Learning with multimedias on the topic of learning about soil for grade 2 students. The research data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation (S.D.), and t-test for dependent samples. The findings revealed that the students' post-learning was 24.85 of mean and 1.46 of standard deviation which was higher than their pre-learning results (11.38 of mean and 1.90 of standard deviation). These were statistical significance at .05. The students' satisfaction of Inquiry-Based Learning with multimedias of learn about soil was 4.64 of mean and 0.49 of standard deviation. The overall level of satisfaction among grade 2 students fell within the highest satisfied range.
