Abstract

The research is about the study of the traditional and cultural heritage of Mon people in Ban Phra Phloeng, Nok Aok Sub-district, Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This is a qualitative research study by collecting information about the traditions and cultures of the Mon people in Ban Phra Phloeng, Nok Aok Sub-district, Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, to study and collect information according to the research objective, which is studying the traditions and cultures of the Mon people in Ban Phra Phloeng, Nok Aok Subdistrict, Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The results of the study showed that 1) There are 12 traditions which are Tam Khao Mao, Wan (Long Khaek Harvest), Makha Puja Day, Sangkran Festival (Songkran), Sangkut offering food to a monk, Making merit at the house, Nang Maew parade, Buddhist Lent Day, Sum giving the sermon by a monk, Raising Chao Na (Ghost), the End of Buddhist Lent Day, Giving the Mahachart sermon merit. The found traditions are the beliefs about Buddhism and ancestral spirits. Nowadays, some traditions remain, but some traditions have not been inherited. 2) Family traditions such as funerals, weddings, and Buddhist ordination, are different from other family traditions that can be seen in general 3) Food culture is food that elderly people like to eat and use in traditions and worships. The ingredients of the food can be found locally, such as curry beans, Pun fish curry, black bean with pork legs curry, and Ka Thae Lae.
