The Development of Learning Activities Based on Heuristics with Brainstorming Techniques to Enhance Mathematical Creativity for Students in Grade 6

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1)to construct and evaluate the efficiency of learning activities based on Heuristics with brainstorming techniques to enhance mathematical creativity for students in grade 6 according to the 75/75 criteria. 2) to compare mathematical creativity before and after learning the mathematics learning activities based on Heuristics with brainstorming techniques to enhance mathematical creativity for students in grade 6. The research was carried out by research and development processes. The sample consisted of 20 students in grade 6, second semester, academic year 2022, from Pracha Songkhro Pittaya School, Phitsanulok Primary Educational Service Area Office 3, which were obtained by purposive sampling. The research instruments were 1) mathematics learning activities based on Heuristics with brainstorming techniques to enhance mathematical creativity for students in grade 6, and 2) mathematical creativity test. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, percentage, and dependent t-test. The results showed that; 1. The learning activities based on Heuristics with brainstorming techniques to enhance creativity in mathematics for students in grade 6, consisting of 5 steps: 1) create data relationships, 2) explore by brainstorming, 3) assessment, 4) communicate and 5) create the question or problem. The activity was appropriate at the highest level and the efficiency was 77.36/79.63, which was in accordance with the specified criteria. 2. The students had mathematical creativity after the mathematics learning activities based on Heuristics with brainstorming techniques, it was higher than before learning and statistically significant at the .05 level.
