Abstract

This research Objectives: 1) to study participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center. 2) To compare the participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center classify gender, age, education level and parental income. 3) To study suggestions of parents the education Phattalung special education center. The samples were the parents of the Phattalung special education center was 144. The research instrument were questionnaires. Statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

            The research results were

  1. The participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center was at a high level in overall ( x = 4.44, SD = 0.61). And individual aspects volunteering (  x= 4.55, SD = 0.51), parenting ( x = 4.53, SD = 0.49), learning at home (x  = 4.47, SD = 0.67), communicating (  x= 4.45, SD = 0.62), decision making ( x = 4.43, SD = 0.63) and collaborating with community  ( x = 4.23, SD = 0.74).
  2. The participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center classified by gender in overall and individual aspects the difference was statistically significant at the .001 level.
  3. The participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center classified by age in overall and individual aspects the difference was statistically significant at the .01 level.
  4. The participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center classified by education level in overall and individual aspects the difference was statistically significant at the .01 level.
  5. The participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center classified by parental income in overall and individual aspects the difference was statistically significant at the .05 level.
  6. Parents' suggestions

               The participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center was at a high level in overall but collaborating with community to least. Educational institutions should allow the community to participate in supporting knowledge by speakers to pass on local knowledge. Including taking part in teaching and learning activities, both academic and other aspects, increasing.

               Comparison results the participation of parents the education Phattalung special education center classify gender, age, education level and parental income in overall and individual aspects the difference. But classified by gender most difference. This is because the students had more relationship and trust with their female mother or guardian than their male father or guardian. Educational institutions should organize activities to strengthen family relationships and allow male fathers or guardians to play more roles in education management.

               Other suggestions Schools and parents should communicate more. Guidelines for promoting child development should be exchanged with schools continuously to foster better understanding between parents and educational institutions.
