The Early Intervention Based on Parents' Opinions of Phatthalung Special Education Center

Abstract

This research was a survey research. The objective was to study comparison of parents’ opinions towards early intervention of Phatthalung Special Education Center. Classifield by sex, age, educational level and salary. The sample used in this research was the parents of 144 students of Phatthalung Special Education Center using ready-made tables. Sample size of Krejcie and Morgan. The research instrument was rating scale questionnaire, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was .97. Statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and f-test.

The result of interviewing experts as follows:1. The opinions of the parents towards early intervention of Phatthalung Special Education Center, in general, were at a high level. When comparing mean of each aspect from high to low can be sorted as follows, screening disability types process, evaluating and transition process, assessing basic ability of students with special needs process, arranging Individualized Education Plan process, gathering general information of students with special needs process, providing appropriate service process and the least mean was evaluating progress process. 2. Parents of diferrent ages and salaries were opinions towards                    early intervention of Phatthalung Special Education Center, overall and in all aspects were not different.3. Parents of diferrent genders was opinions towards early intervention of Phatthalung Special Education Center, overall was not different and in terms of providing appropriate service process was statistically significant differences.4. Parents of diferrent educational levels was opinions towards early intervention of Phatthalung Special Education Center, overall was not different and in terms of arranging Individualized Education Plan process was statistically significant differences.5. Suggestions of parents towards the early intervention of Phatthalung Special Education Center, is centers should make student information available online and accessible to parents, to focus more on speaking practice for students, to have more field trip activities, Encourage teachers to visit more students' homes and increase publicity about forwarding schools.
