The use of the verb "나다" in Korean illustrates an expansion of meaning connected to both physical and emotional experiences, such as internal occurrences and external expressions through conceptual metaphors. The metaphors are used to explain the emergence of emotions, such as anger, which is conceptualized as a liquid contained within the body or mind and may overflow when triggered by external factors. The expressions "화가 나다" (hwa-ga na-da) and "열을 받다" (yeol-eul bat-da) reflect the distinction in expressing anger in the Korean cultural context, differentiating the internal process of emotion and the external stimuli that provoke it.

Additionally, this study demonstrated the role of metaphor theory in cognitive linguistics, which helps to understand how language reflects human thought and experience in terms of emotional perception and expression through various metaphorical forms. For example, container metaphors and image schemas are used to explain the understanding of anger through comparisons to fire and heat. Furthermore, this study provided insight into the perception of emotions in different languages and the connection between language expression and the social, cultural, and psychological experiences of Korean speakers.
Chuleewan Laicharoen Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 10 1 274 284 Legal Measures for the Protection of Dance Professionals in Thailand: A Comparative Study with Foreign Legislation https://so06.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/rdibsru/article/view/281795
Dance is an art form that plays a significant role in global culture and the economy. However, dancers in many countries, including Thailand, face legal and professional challenges. This study aimed to investigate and compare dance-related laws and professional standards in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and France, in comparison with Thailand using legal frameworks, professional standards, and case studies. This study emphasized labor compensation, social welfare benefits, and choreographic copyright protection. The results indicated that developed countries tend to have clear regulatory standards regarding remuneration, working hours, and welfare, along with systematic choreographic copyright protection. In contrast, Thailand lacks comprehensive measures for professional dancers. Accordingly, this study proposed policy recommendations for the development of laws and professional standards for dancers in Thailand, including the establishment of minimum wage rates, a social security system tailored for dancers, and improvements to copyright laws to effectively protect choreography.
Tananpach Asavasemachai Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 10 1 285 298 Public Participation in Local Development Planning of Ban Khong Subdistrict Municipality, U Thong District, Suphan Buri Province https://so06.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/rdibsru/article/view/280691
This study aims to examine (1) the factors influencing public participation in the formulation of local development plans in Ban Khong Subdistrict Municipality, U Thong District, Suphanburi Province; (2) the level of public participation in the formulation of local development plans; (3) differences in public participation based on personal demographic factors; and (4) the relationship between participation-related factors and public participation in local development planning. The findings reveal that modern native Korean speakers use fewer intensifying adverbs than in the past. These adverbs are now shorter and often less frequently used. Thai learners tend to use adverbs in ways similar to native speakers, both in past and modern contexts. However, their usage is limited, often relying on a small set of common expressions. This may be influenced by Korean language textbooks for foreign learners, which often overlook widely used modern adverbs and rarely explain the subtle differences between similar terms. Based on the results, the main issues Thai learners face fall into three areas: (1) grammatical limitations, (2) incorrect word choice, and (3) the act of leaving out adverbs where they are needed. Furthermore, this study can serve as a guideline for the development of teaching materials by including more examples from authentic contexts and providing clear explanations of the differences between near-synonymous adverbs to help learners use the language more accurately and naturally.
Natthawan Sinaroj Soontaree Larprungrueng Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 137 149 Development of a Summary Writing Instructional Package Using CIRC Cooperative Learning Technique for Mathayom Suksa 3 Students https://so06.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/rdibsru/article/view/282027
This research aimed to: 1) develop an instructional package for summary writing using CIRC cooperative learning technique for Mathayom Suksa 3 Students to meet the standard efficiency criterion of 75/75; 2) determine the effectiveness index of summary writing using the instructional package with the CIRC cooperative learning technique students; and 3) examine Mathayom Suksa 3 students' satisfaction with the summary writing instructional package using CIRC cooperative learning technique. The study focused on Korean novels published after 1948, which explicitly convey democratic processes. A descriptive analytical approach was employed for data interpretation. Korean literature of this period reflects various social, political, and economic conditions, intertwined with the influence of “democracy,” which manifests distinctly in each era. As such, literary works emerge in tandem with political and social transformations and vividly illustrate the relationship between literary arts and society. This study selected seven original Korean novels, categorized by political developments since 1948, encompassing: (1) democracy under dictatorship (1948–1987), centering on novels depicting the April Revolution of 1960 and the 1980 Gwangju Uprising; (2) democracy after the June Democratic Struggle of 1987 and the subsequent transition (1987–2000), examining novels concerning the June Democratic Struggle; and (3) participatory democracy (2000–present), analyzing novels published after 2000.

The results revealed that the factors supporting democratization in the literary texts included (1) a strong role of social movements or civil society and (2) the cultivation of civic consciousness and respect for human rights. Meanwhile, obstacles to democratization comprised (1) military intervention in politics, (2) ideological conflicts, and (3) violations of civil rights. Examination of novels from each period indicates that authors convey characters’ behaviors through dialogue, thoughts, and actions, reflecting democratic ways of life and highlighting respect for human rights, freedom, and equality. These elements underscore existing social inequalities and foster democratic awareness within Korean society.
Naritha Sukpramarn Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-29 2025-06-29 10 1 162 186 The The translation of the first- and the second-person personal pronouns in the young adult novel Après la pluie, le beau temps by Comtesse de Ségur https://so06.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/rdibsru/article/view/282185
This study aimed to examine the translation of first- and second-person personal pronouns in the young adult novel Après la pluie, le beau temps by Comtesse de Ségur. The ambiguity of JK-POP groups, advantage and dilemma from questionable identity, Case study from JO1 https://so06.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/rdibsru/article/view/284274
This research aimed to explore the reasons behind the formation of a new, hybridized, and localized version of K-POP and J-POP: JK-POP groups. This term refers to groups with mainly Japanese members, who are based in Japan but release music in a K-POP style produced by Korean production teams and occasionally conduct promotional activities in South Korea. The primary research aimed to investigate about what factors drive companies to decide to debut these hybrid groups despite ongoing conflicts between Korea and Japan. A qualitative method was used, analyzing press coverage, public opinion, fan comments, relevant academic papers, and content released by JO1, as the first well-known group in both Japan and South Korea to use this hybridization strategy, was selected as a case study. The results indicated that the advantages of debuting Japanese-localized K-POP groups include the opportunity to be recognized as legitimate Japanese artists, which allows these groups to access a broader range of the Japanese entertainment industry more easily than most K-POP groups. This facilitates significant financial success, given Japan’s position as the world’s second-largest music market. At the same time, such groups can also pursue more overseas activities, especially in Korea, and attract global fans by leveraging their Korean company’s infrastructure and the high-quality performances and production values characteristic of K-POP. However, the existence of these groups may generate backlash or anti-sentiments from conservative Korean and Japanese audiences, as observed in hate comments or complaints directed at public media. Nevertheless, since most idol fans tend to separate themselves from political issues, and as the K-POP industry has become more open, diverse, and tolerant toward foreign performers, such backlash is not so severe as to hinder the groups’ activities. It is also expected to decrease overtime.
Pitchaya Taecholarn Butsaban Kamon Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-30 2025-06-30 10 1 255 273
