The Model of Self Management Community in Yala Province

Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to study a model for self-management community in Yala Province. The urban, semi-urban and rural communities in Yala Province were selected as the areas for collecting data. These areas consisted of three communities namely Phang Mueang 4, Tha Sap, and Ban Lue Neng. Document research, in-depth interviews, and group discussions with 36 key informants were conducted. Content analysis was employed for the data analysis. The results revealed that the three self- management community model in Yala Province differs from each other in various aspects. In terms of the context area including urban, semi-urban and rural area, these communities had different effects on the dimension of self-managed communities. Phang Mueang 4 is an urban community that firstly emphasizes on community security management while Tha Sap is a semi-urban community that is mainly interested in tourist attractions and community economy. For Ban Lue Neng community, it is a rural community that is far away from the urban community. As a result, the way of life of most people in the community remains bound and adhered to the management of the community according to religious principles in order to be a peaceful coexistence. Community regulations are used by everyone to participate in their own determination without violating religious laws and principles.
