Strategies to develop foreign language skills for industrial trade students, under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission

Abstract

The  research  objectives  were To  study  the  Critical  Success  Factor:  (CSF)  under the  Foreign Language Skills Development Strategy. It is a qualitative study by interviewing and collecting information  from  the  best  practices  of  Instrumentation  and  Control  courses  in  Diploma  level of  Petroleum  Technology  Department,  Hat  Yai  Technical  College  consisted  of  the  Head  of  the  Department,  occupational  and  English  teachers.  From  the  population  and  sample  group  of  5  population.  The  statistics  were  the  content  analysis. The  findings  were 1)  Strategy 1, The creation of systems and mechanisms for the development  of  foreign  language  teaching  systems  consists  of  budget  allocation,  surveying the  needs  of  the  industry,  motivation  for  learners  and  course  management  in  the  form  of committee  with  public  and  private  sectors.  2)  Strategy  2,  Curriculum  development  and  foreign  language  teaching  system  consists  of  the  development  of  the  curriculum  in conjunction  with  the  industry,  organizing  courses  in  English  and  providing  students  with  the  standardized  English  tests.  3)  Strategy  3,  The  development  of  foreign  language  teachers, consists  of  using  foreign  teachers,  training  and  exchange  the  teachers  with  local  and international  level,  teacher  selection  and  continuous  evaluation  of  teacher  development.  4)  Strategy  4,  the  development  of  media,  innovation,  learning  resources,  and  support  for  foreign  language  learning  consist  of  budgeting  encourages  teachers  to  develop  media  and  resources  themselves  using  an international  standard  learning  software,  using  of  media  and  virtual  environment  and  internships  in  real  situations.
