The Clipped Words in English as Found in The Face Thailand

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the characteristics of the clipped words in English as found in “The Face Thailand,” analyze and compare the clipped words in English as found in “The Face Thailand” with the clipped words in native English. The results of the study were found that there are 3 formats of the clipped words in English as found in “The Face Thailand” namely; back-clipping (clipping the final part of a word) fore-clipping (clipping the initial part of a word) and syncope (clipping the final and initial part of a word). It appeared that back-clipping was found the most, followed by fore-clipping and syncope respectively. Comparing the clipped words in English as found in “The Face Thailand” with the clipped words in native English, it was found that the clipped words in native English in the form of back clipping are used the most in English and Thai. Later, the clipped words in English in the form of back-clipping are used only in Thai. Then, the clipped words in English in the form of fore-clipping and syncope are used only in Thai, and the clipped words in English in the form of fore-clipping are used in English and Thai respectively. However, there are no clipped words in English in the form of syncope used in English and Thai.
