Efficiency Estimation in Basketball Professional Competition in Thailand

Abstract
Technical Efficiency Estimation is widely used in Sport Economics in order to understand how sport
team can use its resource more efficiently then succeed its wining the game. This research article
apply the Technical Efficiency technique for the Basketball League in Thailand. Our results show
that, even though each team can show similar performance during the game, but the technical
efficiencies are found to be varied among teams which is implied the way team uses its resource
differently. Our estimations show that mastering the game is the most important factors contributing
to higher efficiency scores which are positively correlated to shooting score and probability of
winning the game.
