Providing Education at the Local Level: A Case Study of Tha Phra Municipal School, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract
The current study aimed 1) to examine development, success conditions, and problems in the management of Tha Phra Municipal School in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, 2) It also aimed to provide a guideline for improving education quality of the school. A single-holistic case study design was employed with interviews of 17 key informants.
Findings reveal that:
1. The school was established because of the need and participation of local residents. Conditions conducive to its success include: local administrators who recognize the importance of education and want to provide quality education at the locality; faculty members who are encouraged to improve their knowledge and skills; financial support from the national and municipal governments; and prime location. The school, however, has confronted with several problems and obstructions in terms of academic excellence, financial planning and management, and general administration.
2. For better quality of education provision, the school should encourage and provide opportunities faculty members, as well as supporting staff members, to improve their related knowledge and skills.
