A Model Development on Prevention Methods of Drug Problems Among Children and Youth in the Northeastern Region

Abstract
The objectives of the research were 1) to develop a preventive and corrective model for solving the problem of abusing drugs by the juveniles and youths in the Northeast, 2) to investigate the agreeability of the developed model with the actual data, and 3) to prepare a manual containing how to prevent and solve the problem of drug addiction among the juveniles and youths in the area as mentioned. The research method employed was the mixture between the quantitative and multi-cases studies of the same case based on the questionnaire in terms of quantity and the interviewing of the persons concerned and studying the related documents in terms of quality. The samples were selected via the purposive sampling technique, and divided into three groups. The first group comprised the administrators and teachers of the schools under the jurisdiction of the Northeastern Secondary Education Offices in the provinces of Rio Et, Kalasin and Mahasarakham, the second group consisted of the students of the same schools in the area as mentioned above, and the third group encompassed 20 specialists who were long experienced in prevention and solution of the drug problem. The open-end and five-rating scale questionnaires were used as tools to collect the information, and the research process was carried out with the Delphi techniques. The questions were designed to be centered on three fields of 1) planning, 2) implementation and 3) evaluation.
The research results revealed that: the preventive and corrective model for solving the problem of abusing drugs by the juveniles and youths in the Northeast, which was implemented through the three measures, namely, (1) planning, (2)implementation and (3) evaluation was agreeably and suitably correlated with the actual data as collected.
