The Necessity of an Operation of Students Care and Support System for Primary Schools under The Office of the Basic Education Commission in the Northeast

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to, 1) study the current and desirable states of students care and support system and 2) study the necessity of an operation of students care and support system for primary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in the Northeast. It is a quantitative research. The sample consisted of school directors and teachers in charge of the students care system totally 400 which was determined by using Taro Yamane's sample size table and multi-stage sampling. The instrument used was 5-level rating scale questionnaire with the Index of item objective congruence (IOC) between 0.80-1.00, discrimination power between 0.42-0.94, and the overall reliability value at 0.98. The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and PNI_modified.
The research results were as follows:
1. The overall current of students care and support system for Primary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in the Northeast was at a moderate level and the desirable states was at the high level.
2. The PNI_modified index values of the necessity of an operation of students care and support system for Primary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in the Northeast in an overall was at moderate level. The PNI_modified index values in order of priority were as follows: preventing and solving problems (PNI_modified = 0.318), referring students (PNI_modified = 0.310), screening students (PNI_modified = 0.296), promoting and developing students (PNI_modified = 0.295), and knowing individual students (PNI_modified = 0.293), respectively.
