Utility Development of Public Utilities in Pak Nam Tha Ruea Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the problems in the development of public utilities in Paknam Tha Ruea Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Ranong Province; and 2) to propose development guidelines for public utilities in the areas of transportation routes, street lighting, and water sources. This research used a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews with 17 key informants selected purposively. These informants included political officials, government officers or employees at the Paknam Tha Ruea Subdistrict Municipality, as well as organizational leaders and businesspersons in this area. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis, and findings were presented through the descriptive analysis.
The results revealed that:
1. The development of public infrastructure in Pak Nam Tha Ruea Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Ranong Province, faces several major challenges, including transportation routes that are damaged, slippery, and require official approval before improvements can be implemented, insufficient and frequently malfunctioning street lighting that increases safety risks, and a water supply system plagued by leaking pipes, low water pressure, and shortages during the dry season; collectively, these issues highlight the urgent need for infrastructure development to sustainably improve the quality of life for residents.
2. The development guidelines for public infrastructure in Pak Nam Tha Ruea Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Ranong Province, emphasize improvements in transportation, street lighting, and water resources. The study suggests that for transportation, coordination with relevant agencies is essential to secure permits and upgrade routes appropriately; for street lighting, increasing wattage and extending lighting coverage through additional electric poles are recommended; and regarding water resources, temporary water truck services should be provided alongside expedited expansion of the water supply system to address long-term needs. These initiatives will significantly enhance the quality of life and living conditions for local residents.
