Effectiveness of Cannabis Oil at Medical Cannabis Clinic in Dontum Hospital

Abstract

     This research proposes satisfaction, quality of life, and effects of patients after using cannabis oil at Medical Cannabis Clinic in Dontum Hospital. The author surveyed the sample of 126 patients with questionnaires and analyzed data with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed that the assessment and follow-up with the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS) in the sample group before and after usage of cannabis oil were statistically significant different in nausea, anxiety, lack of appetite, wellbeing, and insomnia. Moreover, the underlying diseases and the indications for therapy of the patients were statistically significant to the level of satisfaction with the efficacy of therapy (P<0.05)and the quality of life of the patients had mean utility scores at 0.92±0.04. The relation between utility scores and the factors affecting quality of life could be shown as utility scores = 0.834 + 0.71 (gender) - 0.71 (age) + 0.93 (career) - 6.0517 (income) - 0.75 (underlying disease)  + 0.156 (cancers) + 0.090 (insomnia) + 0.111 (pains) + 0.008 (dosage). The factors which were influential to the utility scores with positive statistical significance (P<0.05) were male gender, career, and the indication for cancers. The effects after using cannabis oil were dizziness (9.5%), nausea and vomiting (4.8%), stomachache (0.8%), and throat discomfort (0.8%) respectively. As of the result, most patients were satisfied with cannabis oil treatment as they werehaving a better quality of life. However, minor side effects were found.
