Nursing care of Cataract with phacolytic glaucoma : case study

Abstract

Objective : To study nursing care process in patient cataract with phacolytic glaucoma.

          Result : A case study of a Thai female patient, aged 71 years, with left eye pain and severe headache for 2 week before coming to the hospital. The intra ocular pressure in the left eye was 50 mmHg respectively ( 10-21 mmHg normally ). The visual acuity was perception of light in the left eye . conjunctiva mild injection in the left eye. The slit lamp examination of the left eye revealed cornea edema ,anterior chamber cell 2+, lens opacity. Phacolytic glaucoma was diagnosed. The patient admitted to the eye ward preparing for surgery to reduce the intraocular pressure , reduce the inflammation ,control pain, control blood sugar. Extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens was done. In postoperative care, the nursing care by prevent complications, Anterior chamber bleeding. High intraocular pressure, and Endophthamitis. There has no complication after surgery.The symptoms improved accordingly. She stayed for 9 days in hospital and the day follow up the vision was improved.
