Abstract

              This descriptive study aimed to analyze Postpartum mental health care system in the Tambon Health Promoting Hospital in Baan Poey, Borabue District, Mahasarakham Province between March 2021 and July 2022, totaling 17 months. The sample consisted of 37 Postpartum mothers who are in their 4th–16th weeks of Postpartum period and live in Tambon Baan Poey, Borabue District, Mahasarakham Province. The data were collected from medical records and structured questionnaires and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, i.e. percentage, , standard deviation, minimum and maximum values, Dependent t-test and Content Analysis with the level of statistical significance at 0.05.

               The results of the study show that the majority of the Postpartum mothers under study are 20-35 years old (86.11%), are married 52.80%, graduated from junior high school (38.90%), have a job (36.10%), have an average income of 0-10,000 baht (52.78%), are in good health condition (94.40%), have a healthy newborn (100%) and are in their 8th-12th weeks of Postpartum period (38.89%).

               The study shows that overall the Postpartum mothers are extremely satisfied with the healthcare workers ( = 4.10). The top three services they find most satisfying are enthusiastic and helpful workers ( = 4.29), community involvement ( = 4.24), and home visit at appropriate time ( = 4.15), respectively.

               It is also revealed that in general the healthcare workers have positive attitudes towards the Postpartum mother service and the home visit system ( of 3.75). They are satisfied with the warm welcome and appreciation they receive from the family the most ( = 4.06), followed by their chance to assist and answer any queries that can help the Postpartum mothers to become healthier ( = 4.00), and the administration of 2Q and ST-5 evaluation ( = 3.88).

               The community heads are also found to be generally pleased with the Postpartum mother service and the home visit system ( = 3.75). They are pleased with the public relations, the provision of efficient service and the community appreciation the most ( = 4.20), followed by community involvement ( = 4.10) and better understanding of the Postpartum mother service ( = 3.90).

               The ST-5 evaluation reveals that the Postpartum mothers become less depressed after being visited and receiving the Postpartum service with the statistical significance at 0.05.
