Factors influencing Incomplete Rabies Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Among Rabies-exposure in Sisaket Province

An analytical case-control study aimed to investigated factors influenced Incomplete rabies post-exposure prophylaxis among rabies-exposure in Sisaket Province. The participants were 102 among Rabies-exposure who registered to receiving rabies vaccination at the hospital in Sisaket Province. They were divided into 2 groups: a case group was 34 among rabies-exposure, who were Incomplete rabies post-exposure prophylaxis, and a control group was 68 among rabies-exposure, who were complete rabies post-exposure prophylaxis. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires and case record form. A multivariable logistic regression was analyzed to describe factors influenced incomplete rabies post-exposure prophylaxis. An adjusted odds ratio (AOR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were presented.
The results indicated 4 predicted factors of the incomplete rabies post-exposure prophylaxis among rabiesexposure in Sisaket Province including the laborer for hire (AOR = 2.25, 95% CI= 1.86-6.34), Pet ownership (AOR = 1.86, 95% CI= 1.26-3.38), Home-to-hospital distance more than 15 kilometers (AOR = 1.57, 95% CI= 1.20-3.09) and low level of rabies Knowledge (AOR = 1.72, 95% CI= 1.10-2.98).
