Nursing care of pregnant women with gestational diabetes and high blood pressure with premature birth

Abstract

     This study was case study aimed to study the nursing care of pregnant women with gestational diabetes and hypertension with premature birth.

     Result: A 39-year old Thai woman was admitted to Pakchong Nana Hospital on 5 October 2022 with major symptoms such as headache, blurred vision, and epigastric pain for 1 hour before coming to the hospital. The patient had 2nd pregnancy (G2P1A0L1), 36 weeks gestational age, this pregnancy was detected with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDMA2), treated with RI 2-2-2 unit (sc). Doctor diagnoses preeclampsia with severe feature with GDMA2. During nursing care, there is a chance of seizures due to high blood pressure. The controlling blood pressure by administering magnesium sulfate pressure does not drop normal blood sugar levels thus terminating the pregnancy by caesarean section is a solution. The patient gave a male infant with weighing 4,090 grams, APGAR score 10 points, intraoperative blood loss of 600 cc. After caesarean section, there was no complications. The baby received continuous care. The patient and her baby were discharge on 9 October 2022, total of hospital admission for 4 days.
