The Development of Screening and Nursing Guidelines for Septic Shock Prevention Among Sepsis Patients in Yangsisurat Hospital

The purposes of this participatory action research were to develop the process of screening and nursing guidelines for patients with sepsis and evaluate the outcomes of guidelines development in Yangsisurat Hospital. The research process conducted during October 2020 – April 2022. Data was analyzed using percentage, mean, Chi-Square test, and content analysis.
According to the research finding, the screening and nursing guidelines development which included using of screening tools for early detection of sepsis especially in the high risk groups, the nursing staff mix management, revising and modifying sepsis guideline and a workshop was held for staffs to put it into practice, monitoring and meeting regularly. The SOS score recorded in the nursing record (X2=15.43) and the activity according to the SOS score (X2=17.38) increased significantly at .05 level (p<0.001). Thirteen patients with septic problems were diagnosed and admitted to treatment before shock (X2=2.36), septic shock complications decreased (X2=1.53), and no deaths from septic shock were reported after the guideline (X2=0). .82) was statistically significant at .05 level (p<0.001).
