Nursing care for patients undergoing rectal cancer surgery via video laparoscopy of Phra Narai Maharat Hospital.

Abstract

Case Study : 71-year-old Thai female patient presented with symptoms of bowel habit change and bloody stool. Computed tomography revealed a mass in the lower left abdominal cavity. Further examination, including colonoscopy with biopsy, confirmed the diagnosis of middle rectal cancer. The medical team planned to perform laparoscopic low anterior resection, a surgical procedure using video – assisted technology. The patient received comprehensive nursing care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. The surgery was successfully completed without complication, and the patient had a rapid recovery. The nursing team provided guidance on postoperative   self – care, including an 8 – day hospital stay.
