Nursing care of pediatric patients with asthma attacks: a case study

Abstract

     This study was case study aimed to study the nursing process for pediatric asthma attacks patients. A Thai boy, aged 1 year and 20 days, came for treatment at outpatient department, the pediatric clinic, Phra Narai Maharat Hospital on 1 June 2023 with symptoms of fever, cough, and rhinorrhea for 4 days. Before coming to the hospital, the ATK test at home was negative. Both lungs had a wheezing sound. 3 phases of nursing care.

     Results: The period before checking, patient was not well, had a fever and risk of tissue oxygen depletion. After screening, patient was received treatment immediately. During the checking, the doctor diagnosed acute asthmatic attack with a possibility of airway obstruction. The patient's father and mother are worried. The patient received receive nebulization with 4ml Ventolin1NB+NSS. The patient was considered for hospital admission. After nebulization, the nurse administered oxygen and monitored symptoms changes. Transported safely to the pediatric ward. The patient was sent to the pediatric ward, received treatment for 5 days and was discharged on June 7, 2023.
