Nursing care of patient with coronary artery and stent insertion presenting with congestive heart failure in the outpatient department: A case study.
Abstract
This study was case study aimed to study the risk factors, pathophysiology, and nursing outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease who undergo coronary angioplasty with stent placement and experience congestive heart failure in the outpatient department. This is a case study involving one patient by using a 5-step nursing process, along with the Gordon's 11 Functional Health Patterns framework and Orem's self-care theory. The study involves four home visits over a three-month period.
Results : It was found that the patient is at risk of developing acute congestive heart failure and recurrent coronary artery spasm due to inappropriate behaviors and a lack of knowledge in postoperative self-care following coronary angioplasty with stent placement. The nursing approach promoting success involves comprehensive care emphasizing patient and family involvement, setting mutual goals among patients, healthcare providers, and families, leading to nursing outcomes for patients who adhere to the care plan.
