The Achievement of using the operating nurses’ coaching techniques in compliance with patient care guideline for surgical safety at Wanonniwat Hospital, Sakon Nakhon Province.

Abstract

     This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the achievement of using the operating nurses’ coaching techniques in compliance with patient care guideline for surgical safety at Wanonniwat Hospital, Sakon Nakhon Province. The sample were 12 registered nurses who worked in the operating room less than 5 years, Coach were 6 registered nurses who was the head of each operating room with experience more than 5 years. The study was conducted between the months of December 2023 to February 2024. The instrument of data collection included; the questionnaires of demographic, nursing of surgical patient safety skills assessment, adverse event recording form, and satisfaction with coaching technique. The experimental instrument was coaching technique program. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The comparative statistic used Wilcoxon signed rank test.
     The results showed; the average score of nursing skills after using the coaching technique was higher than before, significantly (Z=-3.072, p=0.002). And before using the coaching technique, there were 16 adverse events but not found after using the coaching technique. The satisfactions with using the coaching technique were the level of highest.
