Nursing care of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy : case study

Abstract

     The purpose of this study was to study the use of the nursing process in nursing practice for 2 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer who received chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It was a case study. In patients with nasopharyngeal cancer receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy Outpatient radiation therapy work Khon Kaen Hospital Number 2 cases by collecting data History of illness and treatment from medical records and assess health status Using the concept of health assessment11 Gordon's model of nursing care planning Define nursing diagnosis Summarize and evaluate results.
     The results of the study found that the two cases were similar as follows: 1) health behavior, drinking alcohol and smoking regularly, 2) diagnosis of the disease, 3) receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy, 4) complications, and there were differences as follows: 1 ) Personal factors include age, education, occupation, chronic diseases. 2) Symptoms and manifestations 3)Complications during care After chemotherapy and radiotherapy, both cases were found to have complications during treatment. Must receive continuous care so that patients can receive treatment according to the treatment plan No serious complications occurred. There is preparation for patients and caregivers. Empower patients and relatives to receive treatment. Therefore, nurses need to have knowledge, expertise, and skills to provide effective nursing care.
