Development of a Medical Supplies Management System from Nong Bua Daeng Hospital to Nong Bua Daeng Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital.

Abstract

     The objective of this participatory action research was to develop a medical supplies management system from Nong Bua Daeng Hospital to Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals in Nong Bua Daeng District, Chaiyaphum Province. The research was conducted among 13 Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals of Nong Bua Daeng District Health Network, Chaiyaphum Province. There were 16 key informants, including 13 public health personnel representing the Medical Supplies Management Committee of Health Promoting Hospitals, 2 officials responsible for the medicine warehouse of Nong Bua Daeng Hospital, and 1 official responsible for medical supply management of Nong Bua Daeng District Public Health Office. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, participatory observation and note taking. Content analysis was employed for data analysis.
     The findings revealed that the development of the medical supplies management system from Nong Bua Daeng Hospital to Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals in Nong Bua Daeng District, Chaiyaphum Province must rely on systematic work through the collaboration among the network partners, consisting of the host hospital, District Public Health Office and Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals and development activities in 6 areas: 1) development of personnel with knowledge and understanding, 2) development of locations, 3) development of materials and equipment, 4) development of the quality assurance system, 5) development of  the transportation process and safety and 6) development of monitoring and evaluation of the system to ensure efficiency and quality of the work system of  Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospitals. The host hospital is also required to have a mechanism for monitoring and inspecting quality and supporting system development and creating participation of relevant network partners.
