Abstract

This research is a cross-sectional descriptive study aims to study the condition and patterns of care for the elderly by families in a multicultural society, Khuan Kalong District, Satun Province. The sample group consisted of 379 elderly people. Data were collected by a questionnaire that was tested for content validity. From 3 experts. Statistics used in data analysis include descriptive statistics. Test statistics using Chi-Square
The results found that overall care for the elderly by families was at a good level: 57.7 % ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ 3.84 S.D. = .59) had good levels of care for both physical aspects ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ =3.97 S.D. = .59) and mental and emotional aspects. good level ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ =3.76 S.D. = .78), good social aspect ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ =4.1 S.D. = .60) and moderate economic aspect ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ =3.46 S.D. = .82), while the elderly need care in Overall and each aspect was at a good level of 81.00 % ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ = 4.09 S.D. = .62). Comparing the level of care and care needs of the elderly, they were significantly in every aspect, p< . 001 ( $gif.latex?\bar{X}$ 3.84,4.09 S.D. = .59,.62 )
Therefore, the model of caring for the elderly by the family is provide the elderly with a good quality of life. Physically, mentally, socially and economically. In providing care, it is necessary to integrate all sectors in order to make the care model for the elderly more complete.
