Cultural Competence of Nursing Students in Boromarajonnani Nakhon Phanom Nursing Collage , Nakhon Phanom University.

Abstract

     This research was survey research aimed at examining the level of cultural competence and comparing the cultural competence among nursing students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Nakhon Phanom University. The sample consisted of 222 nursing students from Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Nakhon Phanom University, in the academic year 2023, selected through simple random sampling. Data was collected using a questionnaire, and the quality of the instrument was verified for content validity and reliability, achieving a Cronbach's alpha of 0.982. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance and Post HOC by LSD
     The research findings revealed that nursing students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Nakhon Phanom University, had a high level of overall and specific cultural competence. The levels of cultural competence in different aspects were ranked as follows: 1) sensitivity to cultural expressions, 2) ability to communicate, 3) respect for individuality, 4) understanding cultural differences, and 5) providing culturally congruent nursing care. Furthermore, the comparison of cultural competence among students showed a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level between second-year and fourth-year nursing students.
