Nursing care of Severe Pneumonia with Acute respiratory distress syndrome at Kalasin Hospital : 2 case Study

Abstract

     This study aimed to compare the use of the nursing process in the care of patients. It was conducted on two patients with severe pneumonia combined with acute respiratory distress syndrome of varying severity levels in the intensive care unit of Kalasin Hospital. Specific case studies were selected for patients diagnosed with severe pneumonia combined with acute respiratory distress syndrome. Data were collected from medical histories, physical examinations, laboratory tests, medical treatments, medical records, symptom observations, and interviews with the patients' relatives.
     The study found that the nursing diagnoses common to both case study patients were: 1) ineffective breathing pattern due to decreased gas exchange efficiency, 2) reduced cardiac output due to septic shock, 3) electrolyte and mineral imbalance in the body, 4) infections in various body systems, 5) risk of malnutrition, and 6) anxiety in patients and relatives due to illness. The nursing diagnosis that differed for the first case was a lack of knowledge about caring for a tracheostomy patient at home, while for the second case, it was hyperglycemia due to the body's stress response.
