The Mental Health Promotion Development of the Elderly in the Community, Tron District, Uttaradit Province

Abstract

     This research is participatory action research. To develop a model for promoting mental health of the elderly in the community in Tron District, Uttaradit Province. The sample group consisted of 30 people, consisting of Care managers, Care givers, representatives of public health volunteers, community leaders, and 5 officials from the municipality, PMO, and NFE. The implementation period was December 2023 to May 2023. 20134 used in-depth interviews, community forums, small group discussions, observations, and lessons learned. Data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive statistics. It was found that the model for promoting mental health in the community in Tron District, Uttaradit Province consisted of 1) enhancing knowledge about depression and promoting mental health, 2) roles and responsibilities of the core network. Leading 3) finding/screening elderly people with depression and 4) referring elderly people with depression. When the model was put to trial, it was found that after the experiment 1) the sample group's participation in monitoring depression among people in the area increased significantly (p < 0.001) 2) the elderly at risk group Receiving depression screening from the leading network increased from 64.2 percent to 92.5 percent. 3) Elderly people with depression accessed services increased from 42.1 percent to 90.5 percent.
