Nursing care of the patient with necrotizing fasciitis and severe sepsis : A case study

Abstract

     This study is a case study. The objective was to study the problems and nursing care of a patient with necrotizing fasciitis and severe sepsis. This patient is a 51-year-old male with a history illness of type 2 Diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. The patient came with the chief complaint of abdominal pain with a deep cavity wound on the left big toe.
     This study found that an important problem that has arisen during care is as follows: 1) poor tissue perfusion, severe sepsis, acute kidney injury, Hyperglycemia, abdominal pain, anemia, anxiety, pulmonary congestion, and pain at the surgical site. The result of nursing care is that all problems have been resolved. As for problems that have risks or opportunities to occur, they include ketone acidosis, bleeding and difficult to stop, delayed wound healing, urinary tract infection, wound infection and recurrence of diabetic foot, complications of diabetes mellitus which receive protection, tracking, and surveillance so that every problem does not occur.
