Health Economy Development Model: Development of Thai Traditional Medicine and Herbal Health Tourism Destinations in Mukdahan Province.

This survey research aimed to 1) develop a health economy driving model by developing health tourism destinations focusing on Thai traditional medicine wisdom and herbs in Mukdahan Province, and 2) assess the impact of implementation on economic development, health, and community quality of life. The impact assessment used a sample group consisting of 20 in-depth interview key informants, 35 focus group participants, and 150 questionnaire respondents. The research instruments included in-depth interviews, focus group guideline, questionnaires, and impact assessment form. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis.
The research findings revealed that: 1) The developed driving model comprised five main components: management structure, driving mechanisms, stakeholder participation, support systems, and monitoring and evaluation. 2) Implementation results showed significant changes including 45 new jobs created, 30% increase in tourist numbers, 34.37% increase in service accessibility, and high stakeholder satisfaction (mean = 4.07). Key success factors included clear supporting policies, integrated cooperation, and strong community leadership.
