The development of colonoscopy service model the bowel preparation at home for One day Surgery. Borabue Hospital Mahasarakham Province.

Abstract

     This research aimed to develop a home colonoscopy service model and study the effectiveness of the developed model. This research was an action research conducted from August 2023 to July 2024. The sample consisted of 47 patients who underwent home colonoscopy with bowel preparation for same-day surgery. The instruments used were an interview form, an assessment form of compliance with the guidelines for home colonoscopy with bowel preparation, a questionnaire on colon cleanliness, and a satisfaction assessment form. Data were collected through interviews, brainstorming sessions, and focus group discussions. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.

     Results of the study: The developed model is an improvement of the operating room service model. There is a Scope center that can prepare patients for colonoscopy by preparing their own bowels at home. Patients prepare their bowels cleanly. There is no incidence of postponed colonoscopy. It reduces length of stay, reduces hospital congestion, reduces costs, and satisfaction with operating room services is at a very good level.
