Abstract

     Pneumonia is a respiratory tract infection, that is the causes of death in children under 5 years. Maternal coaching to proper their behavior in caring for children with pneumonia are important. The quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest design aimed to examine the effect of maternal coaching program throuth a mobile application on maternal behavior in caring for children with pneumonia. The sample included 30 mothers first admitted children with 1month -5 years with pneumonia in the Pediatric Ward, Chonburi Hospital, Chonburi Province. Samples were convenience sampling assigned to the experimental group (n=15) and the control group (n=15). Data were collected from January to May 2024. The experimental group received a coaching program throuth a mobile application, and the control group received a routine care. The instruments consisted of a coaching program throuth a mobile application, the general information questionnaire and the maternal behavioral in caring for children with pneumonia questionnaire. The Cronbach,s alpha coefficient was 0.85. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics independent t-test and paired t-test.

     The results revealed that after receiving the coaching program throuth a mobile application, the mean score of maternal behavior in caring for children with pneumonia of experimental group was significantly higher than control group (p-value<0.001) and higher than before the experiment (p-value<0.001).
