The action research aimed to develop Clinical Nursing Practice Guidelines (CNPG) for Prevention Peripheral Intravenous Infection in Khao Wong Hospital. The Guidelines Developing was applied the conceptual of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Australia as a framework. The study sample was selected by purposive sampling included; the Developing team comprised of 10 nurses, and 40 nurses who has been working for at least one year from all wards to implement and evaluate the CNPG. The content of the CNPG were validated and approved by three experts. The CNPG was tested on patients with Peripheral Intravenous catheters and collected data from August to October 2023, was based on feasibility questionnaires of nurses opinions. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics.
Results revealed that the CNPG consists of nine major components including; 1) Training; 2) Surveillance for infection in patients receiving peripheral venous fluids; 3) Hand washing; 4) Inserting a needle to deliver fluid; 5) Taking care of the needle position; 6) Changing the infusion set; 7) Changing the line and changing the location of the fluid; 8) Changing fluid bottles; 9) Preparing and administering intravenous injections. A high level of nurses (89.3) and root case analysis for High Alert Drug must Give the medicine strictly according to the instructions. If giving 1 dose removal.held the opinion that the feasibility test revealed that CNPG can help resolve problems in the clinical unit, as well as benefit patients through better outcomes.
