Oral Health-Related Quality of Life among Denture Wearers in Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakarn Province

The objectives of this research were to explore (1) oral health-related quality of life, (2) personal characteristics and access to health services, (3) factors related to oral health-related quality of life, and (4) factors influencing oral health-related quality of life among denture wearers in Phra Samut Chedi district, Samut Prakarn province.The descriptive study was conducted in 145 participants (calculated sample size) selected from all 218 complete denture or removable partial denture wearers during 2018–2023 at Phra Samut Chedi Sawatyanon Hospital in Phra Samut Chedi district. Data were collected using a questionnaire with the content validity value of 0.94 and reliability values for access to health services and oral health-related quality of life of 0.89 and 0.91, respectively. The data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square test, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The results showed that, among the participants: (1) most denture wearers had a high level of oral health-related quality of life; (2) most of them were female and complete denture wearers with a mean age of 68.44 years, had access to health services by themselves and had a high level of access to health services; (3) age and type of denture were related to oral health-related quality of life; and (4) removable partial dentures and access to health services significantly influenced 10%of oral health-related quality of life at a significance level of 0.05.
