Applying of Gibson's Empowerment concept to enhance Breastfeeding success in sick newborns.

This article aims to apply Gibson’s empowerment concept to successful practice of breastfeeding in sick newborns. The Empowerment includes four stages: 1) discovering the real situation, 2) reflecting critical thinking, 3) choosing suitable practices for oneself, and 4) maintaining efficient practices. The focus is on discovering the real situation, which includes assessing knowledge and empowerment to enable mothers to engage in critical reflection and select suitable practices for themselves in various contexts, thereby fostering sustainable breastfeeding practices for sick newborns. A pilot study was conducted with two case studies, which revealed that the application of Gibson's empowerment concept resulted in mothers gaining knowledge, having positive attitudes, exhibiting breastfeeding behaviors, and recognizing their empowerment in breastfeeding sick newborns.
