Development of nursing practice guidelines for patients with orthopedic surgery of operating room, Kasetwisai Hospital, Roi Et Province.

Abstract

     This action research aimed to study the problems, develop and use it to develop nursing practice guidelines for patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. Study was conducted between January and August 2024, a total of 8 months. Qualitative sample included 22 operating room personnel, and quantitative sample included 32 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. Research tools included open-ended focus group discussion questions, orthopedic surgery practice guidelines, educational media for orthopedic surgery, general data collection forms, orthopedic surgery suitability assessment forms, and orthopedic surgery satisfaction assessment forms. Qualitative data were analyzed using content triangulation, and quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. And compare before and after with paired-t test statistics.

     Results of the study found that the development process of the practice guidelines consisted of 5 important formats as follows: 1) Develop a clinic to assess and prepare patients before anesthesia that provides orthopedic surgery. 2) Develop guidelines for orthopedic surgery patients. 3) Develop media and documents with advice for orthopedic surgery service recipients. 4) Publicize the orthopedic surgery project throughout the organization and in the area. 5) Review the roles and responsibilities of the work process, assign more clearly and work as a team more in orthopedic surgery service. The results of the formats resulted in significantly better satisfaction of service recipients at a statistical level of .05, t = 9.26.
