The Effects of a Breastfeeding Promotion Program on Knowledge and Breastfeeding Behaviors among Adolescent Mothers at the Breastfeeding Clinic of a Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital

This quasi-experimental study aimed to examine the effects of a breastfeeding promotion program, based on Bandura’s Self-efficacy Theory, on knowledge and breastfeeding behaviors among adolescent mothers. The research employed a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants were 10 adolescent postpartum mothers aged 13–19 years who attended the breastfeeding clinic at a sub-district health-promoting hospital. They were selected using purposive sampling. Research instruments included a breastfeeding promotion program, a knowledge questionnaire, and a breastfeeding behavior assessment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test. The results showed that after participating in the program, the mothers had significantly higher mean scores on breastfeeding knowledge and behaviors compared to before the intervention (p < 0.05).
