Abstract

This study aimed to analyze geographic disparities in suicide mortality rates in Thailand and identify spatial risk factors during 2010-2019. A cross-sectional descriptive study using secondary data from death certificates and population data from the Health Information System Office. Age-standardized mortality rates were analyzed by region, health zone, province, sex, and age group. Significant geographic disparities were found. The Northern region had the highest rate (14.06 per 100,000 in 2019) compared to Bangkok (2.86 per 100,000), with a 4.9:1 ratio. Lamphun province recorded the highest provincial rate (22.10 per 100,000). Males had 3-8 times higher rates than females across all regions. The 35-39 age group had the highest rate (13.49 per 100,000). Geographic disparities in suicide mortality reflect inequalities in mental health service access and socio-economic factors. Region-specific prevention strategies tailored to local contexts should be developed.
